Amber Lining was founded by Inbar Itzcovitz in 2016 to express her love for patterns and textile design. A long search has brought her to this point where she can create for her living.

Born to a family with generations of artisans: her grandparents worked as a freelance carpenter and as a weaver at a local textile business while her parents were working as a blacksmith and a stained glass artist in their in home studio. Growing up in a supportive and creative environment led her to this point.

Driven by a passion for creating both classic designs and unique prints, Amber Lining isn’t afraid to combine beautiful, simple illustrations with comfortable, practical products. Every item is sewn, screen-printed, illustrated, cut, and designed by Inbar in the studio.

What is screen printing, or silk screen printing?

These are two names for the same thing — a manual printing technique. The prints are made by hand, without using any electric machines. It allows the creation of multiple copies of a design using different tones and layers of color. This is an ancient technique, believed to have appeared in East Asia (probably China) before the 13th century and reached Europe in the 18th century.

Today, the core principles of the technique are preserved, and it is widely used by artists and designers around the world. With the invention of light-sensitive materials around the 20th century (see: the first camera), screen printing also entered industry, thanks to its simplicity and cost-effectiveness for producing high-quality prints on a variety of materials.

Is it worth learning screen printing?

Absolutely! Beyond the many creative possibilities the technique offers to those who master it, screen printing provides a few hours of true calm and focus. I like to call it mindfulness through printing. When I teach screen printing, I often notice participants struggling with resistance, anxiety, and especially perfectionism — all of which can block creativity. At some point, all of this naturally releases (sometimes with a little encouragement from fellow participants) when they see that even “mistakes” can produce beautiful results.

In the studio, we offer professional workshops for up to four participants, as well as private sessions. Screen printing workshops can also be arranged for couples, families, friends, or small groups of up to six people. Additionally, we provide workspace rentals and screen preparation/photography services for designers and artists.
